Mere Memory - 2003

Mere Memory is the tragic story of the relationship between a man and a woman. It is about a woman in love with a man that cannot return the affection to her. It is a sad story, featuring characters full of regret and sorrows.

I originally wrote this as a thesaurus game. I wanted to create a story that seemed as abstract as possibly, even with a fairly straightforward plot. Readers will notice the odd choice of words, sometimes forming awkward phrases, at other time forming beautiful sentences. Much of the story was written by right clicking on words, and then choosing a different word from the pop-up menu to replace them.

Writers often find themselves concerned about using the same word too often, and this story could be proof that maybe sometimes the same word is the right word.
